This morning I woke up, and it seemed like almost every single episode we’ve done was taken off anirena. I contacted Power2All about the situation and asked him what the heck was going on. He checked the logs, and as it turned out, it was Jaka’s fault. Jaka created the anirena account, so he has had root access to all of our torrents. And yesterday, I’m assuming because he was angry about us releasing the tosho flood, he decided it would be a good idea to delete every single torrent that we had ever submitted to anirena.

Since each episode takes at least 6 hours of work, that means that Jaka deleted off 29*6, AKA, 174 hours of work that our staff has painstakingly taken over the past 2 months. All of this is probably for a 20 second “LOL”.
So, right now, here’s what’s happening. First, I am looking for the episodes listed above. If you have them, or know a place where I can direct download them, please direct me to it. We will probably try to get the DDL page up as soon as possible so as to make this again.
Second, we’re going to have to consider switching trackers. I like anirena for their reliability of the tracker staying up, and because they seem to have the most up to date tracker, and because they also have group capabilities. However, this hole is the system and their inability to restore torrents has caused some issues for me, so we are looking at other options.

Chihiro subs: thank you for your efforts. I hope you get your distro reset and back up soon. I am stunned at how disrespectful it is for anyone to purposefully delete someone else’s’ work. Behind every name there is a real person, from reading these posts, some people have forgotten this. Too bad everyone can’t just play nice.

Really, it’s not the end of the world. It’ll take a while to put the torrents back up, but the great balance of the universe isn’t really affected.

Man, I can’t believe the idiocy I have read on this page… Flamers, you are the worse examples of Internet rubbish. If you cannot be polite then be silent. If you have something to say, be constructive. Frankly, I have read comment that could have only come from children who have not reached puberty and are neither able to read nor write (too many examples on this pages and nearly all of them are from flamers…). Jaka, you were a former member of this group, but left over a difference or differences. Fine, this happens all the time. But at least be a man and do honorable things. If the influx of torrents was a pain, the least you could have done was to warn Chihiro. Since you unilaterally deleted the torrents without warning shows you to be a petty person and vengeful person. And it undermines your arguments when you say Kristen was the bad guy in the mess that lead to your leaving Chihiro. You have very little excuse for what you did. Any neutral person looking in from the outside of this debate would either think you are a bad person or at least an irresponsible one. Think about it.

I have downloaded some of your fansubs and think highly of your work, but your childish behaviour have now lowered my opinion of both your group and yourself. As for Chihiro, well I just hope that you continue to fansub, I have started to watch your fansubs ironically from the flood of To Love-Ru episodes that you have put forth yesterday. I was suprised and curious about this huge batch of torrents (though a was unable to download but a few). I find them to be of good video quality, well translated, very little grammars faults and well timed. So I think that much of the flames from other fansubbers stem from professional jealousy. So, keep your chin up and continue you work, and be confident that there are anime fans out there who are fair and do not listen to petty gossip before rendering judgement. Kudos and keep trucking!

Apparently, many do not understand this concept. They flame, and when they get flamed they argue back with the “I actually do fansubbing myself” load of crap, but in the end all they do is go around and insult other groups.
And all the many who’ve asked flamers “wth are they doing here and flaming for no reason”, kudos to you all. You guys actually understand something about the effort and hard work people put through just for the sheer joy of others. Unfortunately, many people out on the internet neglect this because of one reason; this is the internet.
And the thing about Jaka? Wow. I’m still having a hard time believing someone could be this evil towards his ex-members. I can understand kids going around school dissing their friends behind their backs, but this is just plain sick n’ evil.

Just to comment on what Orly said: I agree with Orly. People do hard work to crank out fansubs. I have been an anime fan for over fourteen years now. And I have been with an anime club for about half as long. I have absolutely no knowledge of Japanese, so fansubbing is no more than a dream for me. Thus I am quite grateful for the work of fansubbing group and I am cognizant of the possible effort it takes to fansub each anime episode. Frankly, I think people have to put in more effort than I can imagine. So when I see flaming, I makes me feel sad about the situation, since I remember a time when video quality, translation and timing was so bad…
In many ways, this situation reminds me of the one a few months ago when Gundam 00 was been fansubbed. One fansub group was been demolished by very cruel remarks from a small group of users. In the end, it make very little impact on the downloads but you do have to wonder about what those users were thinking when they went after that group. I think the same is happening now with Chihiro. Whatever they might say to justify themselves, what they did showed that they have very little spirits of friendship and cooperation that fansubbers have always had since fourteen years and more ago, and ones that most fansubbers still have.
Jealousy is an ugly thing, most of us have insight into ourselves and are able to rein it in. But some people do not have it and use the Internet’s anonymity so that they can vent their spleen… What a sad sight.
Well, I there are many people that like to speak in such a foul way. For all those: if you don’t like the way they sub these works don’t watch ’em or sub them yourself!
I, for one, thank you guys here at chihiro subs. I have no problem with your subs (I partly understand japanese, and I do not find too many faults in your works /nor in the translation neither in the timing of subs) – in fact I’m grateful.

I’m not that surprised at the lack of archiving as over time, and with multiple formats being released in it takes up more space. They are one of the few groups who still release files in xvid which i am very grateful for. Unfortunately, I don’t have them either or i would upload them somewhere to help. I am just sloping in to say Thanks for all the hard work, and ignore the unappreciative ones. to prevent some one from doing something like deleting all of your torrents in the future, you should consider putting them on multiple trackers which should also improve the life span, even if it increases the number of leachers. Again thanks for the hard work, especially for releasing files in xvid.

I’m kinda surprised too. I can see why they might not though (LOADS of space required), but still, they should’ve at least copied everything to a lot of DVDs or something. Maybe they’ll learn from this incident and have a backup from now on, just in case.
