Honestly, only pc’s older than 7 years can’t run h264.
People asking for xvid suck!. I totally agree with the encoders for refusing is. Encoding Xvid is lame.
“@mX
Why do people WANT XviDs? I just donโt get it.
Anyway, thanks for the release Chihiro.”
Xvids are way more compatible than Mkv:s, you can play xvids in plenty of dvd players and on many game consoles like Ps3 for example. It is also hell of a lot more portable format when you store your anime, you might just loan the cds to your friend who might watch them easily on his dvd player on a big screen. Its probably one of the simplest formats and some ppl like things simple.
“Encoding Xvid is lame.”
Encoding to Mkv is just as lame as encoding to xvid.
“Honestly, only pcโs older than 7 years canโt run h264.
People asking for xvid suck!. I totally agree with the encoders for refusing is. Encoding Xvid is lame.”
your comment is both childish and retarted.
1st – watching anime is not limited to PC only (
2nd – forcing ppl to upgrade their machine that works well for their normal needs is retarted
3rd – What is there to gain for you if xvids are available.
Its true that many modern day computers can play these files without any problems with correct codecs. However in this modern day of technology we are no longer limited to just a single device or a single platform. Imho using a format that is restricted to just one platform in this modern day and age is very unprofessional. Its like using Windows media player based internet tv instead of multiplatform flash based one that works even in many portable devices.
You want an ultra portable format that can be played on computers/tv’s alike? Buy the DVD’s.
@everyone:
That aside, converting files from H264 to XviD yourself really isn’t that hard. I used to do that when fansubs first started releasing HD H264 versions. Then I got a new computer that could handle those files. Sure, it may take some of your own time, but I’d rather the fansub encoders spend their time encoding multiple shows in one format than one show in 2 or more.
@Chihiro team:
Thanks for your great work on these great shows!
“You want an ultra portable format that can be played on computers/tvโs alike? Buy the DVDโs.”
I didnt say I want a ultra portable format, I just said that the more formats supported that support more computers and devices the more ppl can watch this the way they want.
(Ofcourse who wouldnt want a perfect format that supports every bossible machine providing them with best quality/filesize ratio bossible, chihiro-subs would only need to upload a single file after that wich would include all mkv, mp4 and xvid goodness, but lets face it, its not bossible)
I just hate when ppl are so ingnorant and selfish and fill the comment section with “Xvid sux ” “Mkv blows” “mp4 is for retards” or something like that without any real argument other than, “this one is good for me so every 1 else can go and ***** ***”.
It doesnt matter to me all too much what chihiro-subs do with their encodes, they are not professionals nor do they make any money from this so they are pretty free to do what ever they want with their fansubs.
personaly I would like the Mkv(HD) and mp4(SD) combo simply because other one works great for many computers and mp4(SD) would be more compatible with older computers and differend players and portable devices. But I am not the encoder of this anime nor I do know how troublesome this kind of arragement might be so I am not to judge their decisions.
for many H264 isnt the problem here, its the resolution and file format and bossibly the subs (many players have broblems with soft subs).
Ofcourse lets not forget that chihiro isnt the only group subbing this serie, so if their format selection doesnt have the one you need, look elsewhere. Theres plenty of healthy competition between fansub groups (and some less healthy). Its like consumer products, one doesnt offer what you want, buy from some1 that offers.
and to the people demanding Xvids, chihiro is doing these on their own time and can do whatever they want to, we just have to take what they give us, its better than nothin
@M72:
This series uses ordered chapters. AKA, the OP/ED are in separate files, which came with the first episode. Put this one in the same folder, and if you are using CCCP, they should play just fine. What I tend to do is download everything to a general folder, then when I watch, put them in individual folders by show. This kinda messes up the ordered chapters so I’ll make a copy of the op/ed, put them in the general download folder, rename them so I remember not to move them, and go from there (Ordered Chapters don’t care about the file name, as long as it is in the same folder).
@Viper7:
Sorry, I assumed too much. But I agree with the whole format war thing sucks. In essence, it’s just like the OS war. So many aspects are similar.
Thanks Chihiro for the good subs and timely release.
One translation complaint, though: previous Chihiro releases I watched had the advantage of being sensibly literal in translation. Not trying to invent things or take liberties. That was very good because it revealed the structure of the original Japanese work, particularly the literary devices used. With Asura, however, I (in my very meager knowledge) have managed to track down at least a couple inconsistencies introduced by translators taking creative liberties.
1. On the OP song?????is translated to “fabric” when it should’ve been translated to “mechanism.” This latter also makes better sense given Misao’s backstory (and her mechanical means of survival). It’s the “mechanism of eternity” not its “fabric.”
2. On the second episode where Tomoharu meets the landlord he (the landlord, that is) says something that involves???????(revolution of the spheres, motion of the host of heavens, celestial motions). It is translated as “astronomy.” This has degraded the text because the Japanese speech clearly counts a number of natural phenomena, “weather, life, celestial motions,” while the subs say “weather, life, astronomy;” two phenomena inappropriately followed by the name of a science. Of course, “astronomy” is related to celestial motions, but the original Japanese displays a symmetry that is absent from the translation.
I wish Chihiro’s good translators take more care with such things in later releases. Being more literal and taking as few liberties in translation as possible is a good thing, I believe. Anime fans will thank you for it–I know I will ๐
Azumar, congratulations. You found TWO translations that MIGHT not fit well. How much time did you use to find TWO? No offense but, you sound like a troll. If you can translate better, go start your own group. I don’t TL, but I’ll be sure to haunt your TLs.
Seems the comment system doesn’t support UTF-8 encoded Japanese. Fine. Going for Roumaji. The first ?’s stand for “shikumi” and the second for “tentai no unkou.”
This anime is kinda weird… the story seems as if it was done randomly…
Well, don’t judge a book by it’s cover; Maybe this series will get better later on.
@mX Said: I want to watch this serie but no Xvi =(
Well, there are some fansubers doing the divx version. – I myself also prefer the avi/xvid, so I convert those files to divx and/or download the episodes from some other fansubers.
Can you guys do a patch on the chapters file? You added ten seconds (5 seconds between the OP and the episode, and another 5 between the ED and the preview). That screws things up for those who convert the whole episode to an avi using avisynth.
> You found TWO translations that MIGHT not fit well. How much time did you use to find TWO?
A few minutes, helped by a dictionary, and common sense.
———-
> No offense but, you sound like a troll.
It is an offense–a grave insult. “Troll” is not a word you should use lightly on the Internet. I think I gave Chihiro’s translators enough credit for good work. I also thanked the team honestly and heartily. Pointing out mistakes or places where improvement is possible is not trolling. Particularly when the complaints are specific.
———-
> If you can translate better, go start your own group.
That’s the worst idea I have heard in a while. The entire point of fansubbing is providing fans of what you yourself are a big fan of, i.e. anime, the best possible quality of video, audio, subtitles, and packaging. My knowledge of Japanese is very very meager. I cannot translate better than Chihiro’s translators. I cannot translate at all. Still, if I think there’s room for improvement I point it out and that may help fansubbers get the quality of their work a notch higher. I myself might have been mistaken. Say so and I will thank you for improving me.
Thanks again, for providing these releases and reading the comments.
I have one of the newest laptpos ( HP DV7 1030eb), so I can easily play MKV HD or SD…
BUT you cant play MKV’s on Standalone DVDplayers, and Xvid can
thats the mean reason…
Damn what a lot whiners… be glad they subbed this for you, if you don’t like it go somewhere else. if there isn’t somewhere else buy the DVD. Thanks Chihiro for this release ๐
Wrong place to post, I know. I tried for an hour and couldn’t get on the IRC channel. I know how to use IRC, it just wasn’t cooperating with me.
Anyways, does Chihiro need any staff members? I have time to kill this summer between my programming courses. I’ll essentially do whatever except TL and TLC since my Japanese isn’t that great. Anything I don’t know how to do, i’ll learn. I doubt you need help with anything, but my offer stands.
have read the comments, so.
Please don’t whine about XviD’s and theing -as likes. I personally want XviDs but it’s their decision. PLUS they’re doing it for FREE. So demanding would be a rude thing to do.
onT – I was wondering what’s F-cup G, E and letters. Now I know it’s about breast size. So My guess will be D.
Thanks! Excellent Encode!
This seems to be a very good series with very cool characters. Also haven’t seen many series with ghosts like in this one. My only worry is that it might become overly centric on Mecha.
@foxnewsnetwork: yeah I suppose your right, but I don’t think its overly nazi-esque.
First! Thanks!
Size… at least a D cup….
aweosme XD
Hey, pretty selfish aren’t you? First claiming Mio for yourself (well, you can have her) and now Kanade?
Oh sorry, when I realized this post wasn’t made by Kristen I already submitted my comment >.<
thanks… for japanese standard, that will be F or G cup I think…..
I want to watch this serie but no Xvid =(
For goodness sake… download Klitecodec pack or CCCP…. how HARD is that? Media Player Classic will then play almost anything you can think of.
@mX
Why do people WANT XviDs? I just don’t get it.
Anyway, thanks for the release Chihiro.
stop asking after xvids and be glad they do h264 SD releases
on the what resolution question: 848-ish?
Thanks a loooooooooooot
@mX – the SD is easily playable. Believe me, if it played on my pc then it will play on any! Unless you wanna play it on something else.
This episode was awesome, and I am LOVING the music they use
Honestly, only pc’s older than 7 years can’t run h264.
People asking for xvid suck!. I totally agree with the encoders for refusing is. Encoding Xvid is lame.
yea they do have great music, thanks for the release
So far, the series isn’t that bad. Reminds me of Mai-HiME a lot.
Thanks for the hard work, guys! ๐

Xvid nonsense: stop crying because you can’t watch it on your non-pc viewing device, convert it yourself of shut up already
IIII DOOOOON’T GEEEET THIIIIIS STOOORY LIIIINE AAAT AAALLL

K ill explain this one more time why XVID.
I have one of the newest laptpos ( HP DV7 1030eb), so I can easily play MKV HD or SD…
BUT you cant play MKV’s on Standalone DVDplayers, and Xvid can
thats the mean reason…
btw… I would convert them myself, but I dont know how it works with ordered Chapters
I can convert normal MKV though
Damn what a lot whiners… be glad they subbed this for you, if you don’t like it go somewhere else. if there isn’t somewhere else buy the DVD. Thanks Chihiro for this release ๐
@mX, and other Xvid fags: WE DON’T CARE. We make our release for PC viewing. We don’t care about what ever else you want to watch it on.

Dmonhiro: If you dont care, dont read AND DONT FUCKING REPLY!!!
at other (friendly?) chihiro staf: Can you maybe tell me how to convert to Xvid with the ordered chapters?
Thanks, I’m really loving Asura Cryin’ . It’s my sunshine on a rainy day
@ Drama: -.-
Anyways, is anyone else experiencing problems here? The tracker is screwing with me, doesn’t connect to any of the 582 seeds or whatever.
Looks like were gunna have to battle it out Anime style for Kanade.
yay i like this show bit confusing but hey im sure it will make more sense in a few more episodes.
Yay more big boobies! Ty Chihiro!
I almost poured vokda in my ice cream -.-
Is it just me, or do their uniforms give off a nazi vibe…?

So when is this TLR OVA coming?
i prefer xvid over h264 because it it more universal, and it it isn’t easier to skip while using vlc player if you skip too much it will just crash
