We also applaud their ability to expect shit out of Tsukasa, even thought Tsukasa has never released an episode. You must have quite the ability to see into the future. 😉
But, we know that MyAnimeList must be the best in terms of judging quality. After all, they understand all they can about video playback, and they have superior skills in grammar and spelling.

I always found it amusing that those that raged the most tended to have the worst grammar. One wonders how someone who “haven’t understood half of words” could, well, understand the words…
I also noticed the SHAFT angles on this episode Kristen. At first I was like, “Does SHAFT animate this series?” Then I checked MAL and it said it was done by Seven Arcs (I’m sure you already know). You never know, they might be trying to be like SHAFT.

To tell you the truth, I dont really like Chihiro subbed episodes in the early days of Chihiro because of the poor quality of the vid, and translation (yeah I know Japanese). but what impressed me about this group is their ability to improve with the time. as their encoders get more experienced, the video quality is increasing and the translation also improve in some manner.
and right now, I presume Chihiro is on par with other good sub-groups. and yeah, nothing is flawless, so do Chihiro. but you have to view it on the overall performance rather than single aspect.
with that, I gave Chihiro’s staff a bow of respect, for their improvement in the past year.

improvement is good, some of that has definitely happened here at Chihiro. Regression is bad: MAL fans seem to be regressing (as are Shinsen fans in response to Lance – lol @ that thread on shinsen’s site)
I’ve actually compared some of Chihiro’s series with other fansub groups, and I happen to like Chiriro for some series. As long as it has good video quality and decent subs I’m good. I think people bash Chihiro too much. Thanks Chihiro staff, and I’ll be expecting more good work.

Re that MyAnime criticism of yours, well, I bear no grudge against Chihiro. I can’t think evil of a group whose releases I have watched and enjoyed. But when it comes to more fine-grained judgment then… go look at your response to the bit of “pointing out mistakes in your releases” I did back for Asura Cryin’ 02. Nobody from Chihiro said “uh, let me see,” or “okay, we’ll see to it,” or “no, this is where you’ve got it wrong.” Some person from the staff who didn’t bother leaving their name called me a troll instead. Is it odd that you get trolling when you call accurate criticism “trolling?” One gets what one names.

About MAL “fans” of yours: they should know what’s under the hood before talking like that.

Haha. I have to say, I haven’t really known Chihiro in their early days, so I can’t judge based on it. Though, I have heard stories about it. As of now, however, I don’t see anything wrong with your subs, other than the fact that sometimes you don’t put out the OP & ED. (But that’s just my tastes talking.)
Although, very well written post. At least it wasn’t rage-filled like CoalGuys had theirs. Regardless, I enjoy your subs, as well as CoalGuys, and many others.

To tell the true MAL is my homefront on the inet great animecomunity but I noticed that allot, I readed on allot threaths people don’t even bother watching you’re releases which pissed me clearly off… no mather how many people said you all improved people are just blindly stupid but allot people are now already watching you’re releases which means they are confinced (ore how you spell it) that you got good releases, lol once I already did on a few of my side acounta just plussing every show you subbed just because I was mad about all comments hehe

That’s pretty ridiculous. I’ve watched Chihiro subs since Penguin Musume and I admittedly did switch off to other subs for a temporary amount of time (mostly because I’d been following the other groups for the particular series before Chihiro existed), but when I returned to watching Chihiro subs for Asura Cryin’ the quality had increased tremendously in that 3-month gap. MAL can go diaf.
hmm i put the best rating for chihiro.. haha.. I always hate it when people keep point out mistakes but are unable to even be a part of a translation team themselves.. a bit irritating..

Half of them don’t even know their grammar well enough to criticize others’. I’ve seen releases from a LOT of different groups, and Chihiro is really one of the few that I consider to have consistent good quality.

Its more about matter of preference than figuring out a container type. Some prefer Mp4, some prefer Mkv and some ppl prefer avi/xvid. Theres nothing really wrong about that. Saying that some1:s preference is wrong however is what these real “ignorant fools” do.
ppl just need to realize that all of these have their own pros and cons, which pro/con one values, is greatly affected by how he can or likes to watch fansubs. But in the end its left for the encoder to choose the filetype which format and settings will they use.
As for ppl who prefer Xvids, try checking out Chietain20’s website

About those people that criticized your releases without even watching them, some people’s arrogance just never ceases to amaze me. In my opinion, your subs are high quality and I enjoy watching them weekly.
The best you can do is just ignore those, criticizing the work you do even though they don’t have a clue how a fansub is made.

There are many people out there who just heard criticism about something they themselves have never seen with their own eyes, and then just keep repeating like a parrot.
For example you want to build a radio mast. Immediately there are people who lament. They complain about having headaches even though the mast wasn’t in use yet, or even though they live directly at the feet of that mast (the electromagnetic radiation is almost nonexistent at the mast).
Just ignore those poeple, you don’t have to lower yourselves to that level.
Accurate language is dying, not just English but other languages as well. Most people can’t even hit shift for some odd reason.

Everyone sucks when they’re starting out – the “best” groups are the ones whose fans aren’t old enough to know when they used to suck :d. People are just jealous of quick improvement. “God dammit it~ they’re doing it better and faster than meh~~!!!!!!” It’s amusing. *lends face stabbing machine to Chihiro* – make good use of it ^.^ – I think you’ve got enough of a fan army to make fun of the losers ranting off and unto death though :3
Hey, don’t say MyAnimeList users in general… I am one as well, and
1:I rearely make mistakes(and I hate people with bad grammatical skills as well, even myself when I make typing mistakes…)
2:I have good reasons when I say/write something(or I just simply shut up)
3:I never judge things without any consideration (except some people, but those have already “proven” themselves)
4:I have already been to Tskuasa’s page
5: I always accurately point out mistakes (sometimes tooo many, and I become annoying -.-)
So don’t talk about the site users in general… As you might know well, idiots can be found anywhere, and some sites (and other, non-virtual places as well) are their gathering places.
