No, this anime is Awesome!
The story is sweet (pun intended), the characters are original and well written. The writing in general is good as are the jokes and gags.
Anyone with a bit of OCD would appreciate the candy trivia. Also of important note is that this show does not suffer from plagues of set in school and/or relies on a student counsel.
This show, Dagashi Kashi, is a very enjoyable lighthearted comedy with good enough writing to make it entertaining for any ages.

You do know there is no such thing as any one single “American Time”, the contiguous United States has four time zones and the US as a whole, I believe, nine. Any of those could be called “American Time” not just PDT (What the West Coast uses).
