So, yeah, I failed. I failed hard. Forgot to take out a resize filter, so I got a lossless at 704X396 resolution instead of the 720p I needed to encode both h.264 and XviD from it. But, I was able to encode XviD, so that’s what we’ll release now.
HOWEVER, this means that we did make 2 ZKC releases this week, enough to compensate for last week and this week. And to be honest, ZKC 23 will by most odds be out tomorrow, with 24 on Tuesday.
Just an update on Penguin Musume. Still no Chinese subs to base off of, so we’re trying to J->E it for now, but J->E on Penguin is REALLY slow. Penguin takes about 4 times longer to do than a normal show because they talk really really fast.
Also, when tosho comes back up, could somebody put our torrent up there with a like to our IRC network and our website?

Will you please release ZTC in 29.97fps as it was intended already? I haven’t found 15-18 and 20 watcheable due to the PowerPoint slideshow-like playback thanks to you guys encoding it to ~23.98fps and doing who knows what else
(since To LOVE-Ru exhibits the same issues on half the WS releases, but both the source and encode were ~23.98fps)

The gg version was almost perfect. Sadly they messed with the subtitles in two o three parts of the show to talk bad about Chihiro. Nothing important is lost but it is there.
My personal opinion is that this kind of fights are childish. I don’t understand how it is that someone can spend its own personal and precious free time just to insult another group / person.
It is not that I am attacking gg or defending chihiro. The only fact that matters to me it is that I spend bandwidth and my time on an internal fight that I don’t really care …

to say the truth the GG version had much better quality, the raw was MUCH better, the translation was also good except 2-3 troll lines… usually chihiro isn’t that bad either, only the raw they use, but in this episode the translations were much worse than usually…
kyo couldn’t have said it better. In fact, the only part of 20 that seriously dropped the ball was only half a minute after part B started, but that is still enough to give anyone the impression that Chihiro’s 20 in translation was shit.
And I will once again reiterate that if anyone seriously considers Chihiro’s 24fps ZTC encodes to be of “good” quality, you don’t deserve to watch anime anymore. There is a reason why you don’t convert framerates (also a reason why you always use h264 raws over DivX raws when available)

The translations were pretty off this episode, getting names wrong (Natsuko, Hotaru, Naomi, Akira, etc), Double Face’s powers wrong, etc. Any chance of a version 2?

It’s nice to know that we have a bunch of people in here that would like Chihiro to drop ZKC and have no one sub it, since I highly doubt gg would pick it up, although Code Trainw… I mean Geass and Macross F is ending soon so…anyway, that’s not the point. I do agree that it should not be converted to 24 fps and that it makes it look choppy, but the raw quality isn’t that big of a difference, use something like Ffdshow and put in a filter and it looks just as good. Also, h264 raws that are converted correctly are better than DivX raws, which I believe is shifting to h264 as their format, check their site.
And on their translations, get over it. So what if some lines aren’t worded quite right, every fansub group does it. Maybe it’s just lack of QC people to fix the wording, don’t blame it all on the translators. I’ll count this ep as a fluke and stand by what I say.
Chihiro are speed subbers, so I don’t expect perfection but they are very good speed subbers, I have had no complaints, well maybe except for wanting episode 19 of ZKC.
As others have said I don’t like watching troll subs, I did see the GG one but I’m waiting for Chihiro so I can save it. I haven’t noticed any choppiness with the frame rate myself and considering that it’s free, I don’t think beggers have a right to complain.

Deculture? that groups dead pretty much last I heard they don’t have a TLer =\ Which is why they no longer sub ZKC…but you can just wait for them if you really don’t like Chihiro’s subs that much >.>
Yeah, it was never an issue about Eclipse not finishing, just _when_ they would finish.
As for Chihiro’s subs, it’s not that big a problem, although a v2 script might be nice (some of the mistranslations are a little painful to watch, like Transparency level 5). Those of us not stuck in the 20th century can just mux it right in.
Any chance of a v2 to reencode the video? I think it might be that fps problem folks here are talking about.. It’s the only ep of ZKC you’ve released I’m having trouble with in terms of playback.. thanks!
