After a couple of days of struggles, mistakes, non-mistakes, raw hunting, and encoding, we’re finished with episode one. This is done in full. OP is subbed, all signs are typeset, full edit pass, etc. And we’re intending to do that for all of EF.
For pre-releasing, it’s simply not happening anymore. If we do pre-release at all, it’ll be to maybe a blogger or a few friends we trust. If you have to ask if you are one of these people, the answer is no. Just stay patient, we’ll keep you informed as to how we are doing. Heck, this is still a 54 hour turnaround even with a couple of delays.
Also, big clap to our encoder (An anonymous one). Here’s a sample of how bad the transport stream was. You would think for a series are artsy as this one it would at least have good picture quality. But, he did a great job in dealing with it.

In case you were too much of a retard, the image posted in the release post is from the ->RAW<-. The encoded video, despite looking shitty, is much less shitty than the raw. The raws for ef are complete shit. Of course, you can wait for the DVDs to come out and buy those if you want quality, but if you really wanted quality you wouldn’t be downloading from fucking Chihiro in the first place, would you?

The notes page says “EF ~A tale of Memories~ Notes” instead of “Melodies”.
I think you should change the sub border.. the black is either too thick or just too strong and doesn’t look good. 🙁

Well after seeing the video quality of the new release I prefer the pre-release one with a huge margin.
That’s too bad that the raw are of this awful quality. But don’t make things worse by upscaling it. (Or maybe the raw was already like that?)

The raw was 1920×1080. It was the best raw available. And anyone who prefers the pre-release one needs to get their eyes checked. It looked awful. The black screens weren’t even black in the pre-release. They were gray and blocky. You’re a dumbass.

shoku-dan > yuurisan, heck all > yuurisan, just caus they where the only ones doing dgm properly doesn’t mean they are a good subbing group. Their translations are mostly correct but their quality sucks and they make to many typo’s.

The translation is more like “Der entfernte Himmel ausserhalb des Fensters” which is quite different than the original phrase.
I think “The far away Sky beyond the Window” should be a more correct translation.
The other one should be ok I think at least I would translate it in the same way.

Hey Chihiro – GREAT WORK ON THE LAST FEW SUBS (sadly I’m following all 3 releases this season here so far haha). Normally I wouldn’t comment about this and leave it as a given, but sadly most of the comments here are COMPLAINTS for a free service???? WTF??? Guys – I’m sure some constructive criticism is welcome, but it’s not worth driving away people who donate their time and energy each week to give us this good stuff. If the way they make this isn’t good enough for you, learn the langauge and give Chihiro a break with this show – I’m sure they wouldn’t mind 😉 I’ve probably earned a few enemies with this, but I’d hate to see another subbing group disappear because of comments like this (Dattebayo has even threatened this several times already, but they’re another story altogether…). WHERE’S THE LOVE PEOPLE???!!!! 🙂

You know. I just watched ef: tales of memories, because of the psychotic need i have of knowing what actually happens in an anime. And i have to say…from what i have gotten from this intial ep it seems that this will be a bit more dark. Which, being that memories was the most depressing anime i have seen in a while at times, seems impossible.(And no that doesnt mean i dont like memories. in fact i think it was one deep, deep storyline and i love that.) And chihiro- Great job. Seriously. I dont understand the e-peening that all these groups do. I watch m.3.3.w. I watch AQ, I watch Chihiro. and a ton of other houses. So can someone explain to me what the huge deal is? Maybe im not drunk enough to understand just yet. Ill come back, say friday night/saturday morning, maybe then it will make sense.
