D: they heavy even at 10-bit
10 bit? You just made what I have already downed useless. Thanks for nothing!
@Fignuts 10bit is better than 8 you know?
thanks
Thanks for yout efforts to redo this in 10-bit, I appreciate it!
On a somewhat related question, does this mean that you will adapt 10-bit soon?
Anyway, thanks!
Fuck this shit, now i cant play this in my stand alone player.
@motz – it isn’t better if you can’t play it.
@Fignuts
If you can’t play it then you’re an idiot.
if you cant play it then too fucking bad.
u have no say in a release you did nothing in
Megaupload link please?
@fdasgfdfgsh – reference the comment above mine before you start assigning labels to people.
I’m developing a blacklist for sites that can’t be bothered to note 10-bit in the filenames. So far only two kindred souls are listed: Commie and Coalgirls. Does Chihiro want to be added to this list? Some of us have download caps and just want an easy way to know what is being offered without having to read thru blog archives. Is that unreasonable? I wonder what you’ll say, as I see a lot of arrogance in this blog. Is poking fingers in peoples’ eyes the goal you started with?
If there is no 8bit version why bother? Should all 8bit encodes be labeled as such so you don’t get them confused with 10bit encodes even if there isn’t a 10bit encode to start with? That just seems silly.
@Monitorize
i dont think anyone give a crap about your blacklist.
after a few more months every group would most likely start doing 10-bit for everything. then you can blacklist everyone
Personally, I think 10bit is a conspiracy on the part of anime studios to destroy fan-subbing. It’s creating a division between the fans and the producers of fansubs. The H264 vs AVI is nothing compared to the hostility created by the introduction of 10bit. All I am saying is “THINK ABOUT IT!”
The anime studios have no control over the encoding, the codec used, or the bit depth used by the sub groups. 10bit allows smaller file sizes (which just about everybody wants) with the same, or better picture quality (which everybody also wants), and the most widely used codec packs/video players adapted to work with it rather quickly. People just fight change. When people would actually prefer waiting for the anime to go on sale in their own country and pay for it sight unseen rather than install CCCP for free and watch it months ahead of time is when fansubbing will die. I don’t see 10bit accomplishing that.
And it was actually h264 vs Xvid. H264 and Xvid are codecs, and AVI is a container.
>>Smaller filesizes
Yep, thats why the new 10-bit release is ~ 100MB bigger than the 8-bit version…
Kristen said she made changes smartass. For the same video quality the filesizes would be smaller. She obviously made changes to the video other than just going from 8bit to 10bit.
seeing some of the comments on this site makes me orz for Chihiro staff…. God bless your souls
Is it just me, or when playing back episode 6 & 7 the OP font style gets switched to the Episode style? Like 1-5 are fine where the episode styles are normal and the OP is normal, just like the font styles for 6 and 7 override what the OP says it is.
To whoever wrote that large wall of text int he comment above, it was h264 vs MPEG-4 not Xvid, Xvid is not a codec, it is a program.
Well then why did you keep telling Kristen to use h264 instead of Xvid for the SD encodes?
As I said, this so called conversion is creating hostility. Which is exactly what the anime studios want. At more and more sites I’m seeing severe backlash against this 10bit movement. If you won’t give it up, at least provide a method by which fans can convert 10bit to the more universally compatible (think hardware players) 8 bit format. Containers are containers H264/AVI has nothing to do with it. It is the inherit incompatibility of 10bit which is the issue.
You’re mistaken in thinking I care. I don’t. I just know it’s easy to get Blaze riled up, and his reactions are funny. As far as converting it there isn’t a way. You have to be able to decode it to convert it, and if you can decode it you can play it. And as I said before h264 is not a container.
is it censored?
