Haganai 01-02 Lemon Meringue ray Released!

As promised, doing the BDs. Really isn’t worth 1080p, so 720p only again. *Shrug*

EDv0 is credited since NCED is probably going to be with volume 2.

  • Just curious, why is 1080p not worth it? Is it just an upscale?

    Thanks for the release, btw.

    Bluray, waaiiii~

Amuro1X : Something like 90% of anime that were on TV are upscales. Most of the time if you see a difference (in a 3 times bigger file) it’s just because it’s closer to the source thanks to the filesize.

    Anyways, thanks Chihiro. Love you.

    Is there a Blu-ray for ep 00?

    Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • I still prefer 1080 at all times, upscale or not. I always go with “the bigger, the better.”

However, I’m just putting my opinion out there. Not complaining, especially since I was looking forward to it. So like everyone else, I also thank you guys.

Why exactly? It just boosts the file size with no increase in video quality. If you make your player go full screen it does the same exact thing without doubling or tripling the file size.

1080p looks ok in my opinion : http://i.imgur.com/zgHem.png

There is one difference (for me is a big one).
Thats a subtitle resolution, meaning if video is 720p even with hardware (or software) scaling to 1080p the subtitles will be less sharp.
Not gonna go in tech details, but thats the case, if original video is 720p subtitles will have less pixels compared to 1080p source.
Upscaling in general if no subtitles involved I’d rather do through my equipment. It produces sometimes better results then Blu-Ray upscales that is being done commercially (they still conserve the bandwidth in some cases).

    just my 2 cents

I hate to tell you this, but unless the subtitles are hardsubs their size isn’t dependent on the video resolution. We don’t vary the size of the subs for 480p, 720p, and 1080p. Your player varies the size of the subs based on how large the window is. Say 720p uses 12 point at native resolution. If you bump that up to full screen on a 1080p monitor it doesn’t just enlarge the text. It changes it to 14 point. The numbers aren’t accurate, but it should give you an idea how softsubs work. I’d hate to see a 720p or 1080p release with 12 point text.

Thanks a lot! Can’t wait for the other volumes.

Totally prefer 1080p, will wait til someone releases it, and btw i don’t mind if it’s an upscale or if it weigh’s more, i just want 1080p, and thanks to pitchblack i does look way good.

can someone help me please, vry few seed Q.Q

Just watched the first episode. The episode title’s gradient isn’t smooth enough. I can see different shades of color and that was unexpected. Hope this is fixed in next episodes.

Possibly… I wouldn’t bet on it, though, as that would mean we’d have to re-typeset and re-mux every single episode for the batch.

    • DarkSpace

Don’t forget that it can take an enormous amount of time to create a smooth gradient, especially when there are more than 2 colours involved, as is the case here (it’s 4 colours). The Typeset was done for the TV version, which meant that the Typesetter didn’t have enough time to create a smooth gradient every time because the episode had to be released at some point.

  • Basudeb

But if you at least can fix those 4 left episodes that will be good though.

For a v2 patch, ep 2, at 8:11, “but I guess I carried away. Sorry about that.”
