Rest In Peace to the dead and a speedy recovery to the injured.

I wanted to say something better than my first comment but could not come up with any words to say that reflect what I’m thinking. So I stopped thinking and let my heart talk.

In this moment of sorrow and grief I think of those that are now taken from us. More importantly than crying, feeling angry at who is responsible for this vile crime, or anything else I first before all want to tell the dead Thank You. Thank you for all the joy and happiness your work gave to countless many people. Thank you for sharing with us your inner world that you brought to life so amazingly. Thank you for all the gifts you’ve given us with your talents, love, and dedication.
It is an understatement to say you’ll be greatly missed.
May now you walk the path to true life. May God take you and shower you with the bliss of the eternal.
May you hear the joys you’ve brought to so many as but one song of an uncountable many in the great beyond.

To the injured I hope for your full and fast recovery.

Know that the dead are now in true life. I know it is hard, if not impossible, not to weep. But the dead now look at us and do not want us to be sad and depressed, it hurts them in their life eternal. Remember them with joy as that they brought with their work.

And friends, family, and loved ones of those killed and hurt by this terrible crime. We all stand with you and will do whatever we can for you. The pain never really heals but I hope in time the tears dry and happiness can return to you.

We start to appreciate what we lose in life. Don’t be sad or crying. They are already gone, but… They are still in your hearts and in the hearts of many others who enjoyed KyoAni productions. They will live in the universe and they shall never be forgotten! In their last moments they were suffering, but they would never want you to be sad, to cry or to suffer because of it. You lost important people to you, ones that no one can replace.
A flower withers and then you realize how beautiful it was. But, but, but did you know that before a flower withers away it leaves seeds? Maybe those seeds will become beautiful flowers that will not wither! Maybe this will lead a path towards new people working in KyoAni.(I do not say it is a good thing to kill people for this purpose)
To the relatives of the dead people:
Let the sunlight dance, embrace and warm you.
Let the moonlight shine over you as a guide that will lead you thru the hardest and painful moments.

P.S. The self-proclaimed God said so. Is he good? Is he bad? Neither – just the middle ground.

I heard the news right as it was being reported, but it’s only now starting to sink in for me just how tremendous this tragedy really is. On top of being the largest mass killing Japan has seen in over two decades, it absolutely breaks my heart that it was KyoAni, of all studios.

Obviously I do not wish arson upon any anime studio, but it greatly amplifies the tragedy in my mind that this monstrous attack was carried out against the anime studio which served as the consistent gold standard for treating its workers with respect, maintaining humane working conditions, and providing meaningful animator education. Combined with the deep affection I carry for so many of the movies and series that KyoAni has made, words simply fail me.

I can only hope that this act of evil does not spell the end for Kyoto Animation. There are many anime studios I like, but KyoAni is the only one I can honestly say I love, and this has been true for many years. The studio staff members clearly need and deserve time off, but as selfish as my motives are for saying this, I think the most powerful revenge KyoAni can possibly attain is to keep going.

This really saddens me. Some of my favourite shows are from KyoAni. Truly a big loss for us fans.
