If ever in a cave, do not light a fire. You will die of smoke inhalation. In fact, if you put it by the entrance you’ll die quicker than at the back due to airflow.

This actually makes a lot of sense to my mind, as I imagine the smoke will gradually fill up the cave, and then suffocate you. But then, why do they always light fires in caves in movies, series, and anime? Even in survival movies. Heck, even history teachings want us to believe our forefathers survived by taking shelter from the elements in caves, and lighting fires to keep warm. What if the cave in question has a sufficiently large opening, and isn’t all that deep? You should be fine if you have enough ventilation, right?
This is literally the same concept as what the US military employs when they drop thermobaric bombs straight into caves…well, actually correction: in a cave with a fire you would die of carbon monoxide poisoning, but with a thermobaric weapon you would die of oxygen deprivation if not from the initial blast and/or shockwave….
