Anyways, onto a bit of business. ZKC 05 should be Sunday by my guesses. After that I need to re-encode 01 and 12 before making a batch set for the first 13 episodes. I’ll probably be able to make a batch for the last 12 in about a week or so, when we finish the series. We have a couple of files to v2 in 40-51, and that’s done already, so it’s really when we finish 51, we’ve got the 1st set and the 4th set done.
The 2nd set (14-26) is what I’d like to ask for help on. See, I have been downloading BS-J transport streams from Perfect Dark. And I’m DLing 12 for 5 days now, and it’s at 30%. It’s not going to be fast, and DLing them again for all the files we did at 23.976 idiotically (14-23) would take months.
Shinsen-Raws did an excellent job with 14-26. If anyone has a set of Shinsen-Raws 14-26, could you make a batch torrent and distribute it for me? Or upload it to MU and give me links?

So, I was thinking a bit today, surprise, surprise. And then I realized something. Quartet just doesn’t fit. Look at the shows we’ve subbed. We have the Sekirei, To Love Ru, Rosario to Vampire 2, Zettai Shougeki, Asu no Yoichi, Akikan (To some extents), Penguin Musume, and Ikkitousen in one category. Then we have Kyou no Go no Ni, Zettai Karen Children, Minami-ke, and maybe Maria in another. The loud fanservice type and the soft type.
Quartet just doesn’t fit in with the others. Ah well.

Little preview into our spring show, K-ON!
Guess I’ll use this post to explain how it’ll be released. We will do 4:3 episodes when they come out. And then 3 weeks later, we will re-encode it to 16:9. What resolution we are doing it in, I’m still undecided. Vote in here to let me know what you prefer. Poll hijacked~ ^.^
Then, if I am willing to put in the extra time, we’ll do the DVD versions.
I’m still undecided whether I’d do XviD for both releases, XviD for WS only, or no XviD at all, replaced with mp4.
Going to be a fun show! May run two seasons due to the time slot it’s in, but I don’t know. Either way, I look forward to it, and I hope you’ll support us!
Also, just to confirm. Our shows for next season are K-ON!, Queen’s Blade, and Asura Cryin`. We also will do DC IF 2, To Love Ru OVA 1, and maybe an additional OVA release.

OK, so here’s a story. I go to sleep last night thinking “Tomorrow’ll be happy Asu day! No surprise Sekirei OVA to sub, nope, nope.” Then I wake up and go to TokyoTosho to look at the torrent searches and laugh at how high Toradora is. Then, in giant letters, appears “SEKIREI”. So, I was like “Oh, DVD box set must’ve been released, no OVA, nope, nope.” Then I go on here and see a comment “Is Chihiro subbing the Sekirei OVA?” INSTASTRESS!
Anyways, it’s out. 10 minutes long, DVD resolution, etc, etc.
v2 has some fixes.

DC IF is part of the Da Capo series. If you’ve been following us for a year, we did sub DCIISS, and you probably have seen all the other series. If not, they’re REALLY good.
This is a 2 episode OVA chronologizing what would have happened in Da Capo if Jyunichi chose Kotori instead of who he eventually did. Hence the IF. Imaginary Future.

I’ve seen a lot of the same questions asked around here over and over again, so I’m just going to take a few minutes to answer a few of them.
Q) Will you sub ________________?
A) Most likely, no. We already decided what shows we’re doing next season. We probably have more resources than you, too, so we’ve looked at every possible show. Maybe if you want to talk cash, we can negotiate some sort of deal, but… 😉
Q) Where is episode __ of _____________?
A) In progress. Keep in mind that we have lives. We’re real people who go to work and school, and some of us even try to have friends and relationships. This is something we do in our free time. Not to mention, it’s insulting to ask people who are doing this for free to hurry up. We do keep track of the projects we’re working on, so it’s unlikely we’ll forget something completely. Chances are the staff for that project are busy or having technical problems or something of that sort.
Q) What is moe?
A) Go watch Lucky Star.
Q) Why is my font size huge (or) why doesn’t my MKV show subtitles?
A) Make sure you’re using a supported codec pack. We suggest CCCP combined with Media Player Classic. The one thing you must never do is use VLC. If you are using anything other than CCCP with Media Player Classic, we will NOT help you with playback. If you are on an OS other than Windows, we recommend Mplayer. Just as long as it’s not VLC.
Q) Why do you sub shows when other groups are already doing them?
A) Look, there are a billion fansub groups and only a limited number of series. We’ll sub what we think looks good regardless of who else is subbing it.
Q) Where’s my XviD?
A) Dunno m8. This has always kind of been an extra service. Starting next season we’re not going to provide XviDs on all our shows, though. Instead, certain shows will replace the XviD with a hardsubbed 704×400 MP4. Basically, you still get the compatibility that XviD lovers cry about, but you get the improved quality of H.264. And if you can’t play SD H.264, especially hardsubbed, I think you need to get a computer that wasn’t built in 1999.
Q) But XviD is smaller than H.264
A) No it’s not. It’s smaller because the resolution is smaller than the HD H.264 files. When you have an XviD and an H.264 video at the same resolution, the H.264 version will either be smaller and the same quality, or the same size and higher quality.
Q) So you’re not doing XviD on any show next season?
A) We never said that. It will be left in the hands of the encoder as to how they wish to encode their series. As of now, we have 1 series that will have an XviD, 1 that won’t, and 1 that is undecided.
Q) What do you guys do in your free time besides fansub?
A) We furiously wank it to Cardcaptor Sakura movies
