After 7 months, a gigantic pause in the summer, a translator ragequit, a slowdown in Chinese subs, and I think we even made a font change in here, we’re finished. Finished, you ask? Just, yeah.
I do not know when/if we’ll be releasing a batch with the episodes as they are. We have to decide what we want to do with this series from this point on. We can either batch it to move onto our other projects, or we can go back and re-do what we screwed up as Chihiro v1 back in May.
Either way, it’s sad to see the first show we started subbing from the beginning to end. We literally picked this up five hours after Geass, so it is pretty much our first show. Though, I still can’t tell… They may have announced a season 3 at the end of the episode. If they did, you know we’ll sub it.

So, this has to be the hardest collective episode Chihiro has ever done. It was easier to translate than To Love Ru 23, but it was much harder in terms of timing and editing and typesetting. In addition, there was a new ED.
Some specifics:
1. Before you say it, any time there is a kanji on the screen, the bottom is what the kanji reads, the top is what the little things next to the kanji make it read. The first reads the same in both cases
2. The scene before the ED was timed/retimed 5 times, trying to make it look the best. This was the most popular of the choices we had, so it was used.
3. This was hard to emotionally do. This episode is sad.

So, with earlier than expected karaoke and widescreen completion on this, we have finally finished. To Love Ru is done. We will not be re-encoding/encoding anything more on this. For instance, we will not be doing DVD versions, nor will we do creditless OPs/EDs. When we release a batch, it means that these are the final versions to store in your archives.
For other batches, we have 4 awaiting. World Destruction will probably batched tomorrow, although I won’t make a post on it or anything. Sekirei will be batched when someone volunteers to seed it off their server instead of ours. Ikkitousen will be batched in March, after the 6th OVA comes out. Kono Aozora will be getting DVD encodes starting… erm… today? If our encoder batches the encodes together, it shouldn’t take more than 3 days. If he delays, who knows?
Well, it was fun bringing you To Love Ru, and we can now kiss this story off to the archives~

Update: This episode is freaking HARD. I’m expecting over 500 lines to time tomorrow, and probably some alpha timing to add to effects/quality for one scene. No ETA until I have an actual script
Update 2: Script is done. The one scene in question is 2 minutes 41 seconds long, and will contain at least 100 lines of script. For comparative purposes, the entire script of DCIISS 13 had 210 lines and covered 22 minutes. I am devoting 3 hours tomorrow to timing this scene, so please bear with us.

Update 4: All timing is finished. I think we’re aiming for 10 PM on Thursday EST for release.
Update 5: All non-script steps are finished. We probably can release at about 4 PM or so tomorrow assuming nothing goes wrong.

By the way, I’ve noticed we’ve been getting a lot of blogger pinback lately. Guess we’re not obscure anymore? O.o
Oh, another thing. To people re-encoding our encodes to XviD, please, just do something more worth your time. We do our own XviDs. It’s more sensible to re-encode a group that doesn’t do XviD than one that does.

What the hell? One episode to go?
If you want to know why Penguin’s end is gloomy for me, think about it. The day we released episode 1 was the same day as Geass 03. In other words, Penguin was the second show Chihiro ever did (DCIISS was the 3rd, TLR was the 4th.) And it’s been almost 7 month of Penguin. Why is it ending? T_T
Delays for various reasons this week in Penguin. Other shows should be out on schedule.
Also, I don’t know why I have to continually remind you, but there will be no XviD for any show that airs in h.264.
