Point 1: I guess we ended up being a little late. Ah well. Much less than I was expecting.
Point 2: The more I think of it, this show was MEANT to be in black and white. It’s like the perfect “Oldy but goody” type of a feel, and I think color is killing a lot of what it is supposed to be. Oh, yeah, we did do an h.264 is black and white again. Why? Because I’m having fun playing around with this show and learning how to encode better. If you don’t like it, then just don’t download the B+W version. It’s not harming you. Maybe they’ll actually add it to animesuki this week. >.>
Point 3: YES, we will be doing widescreens. I’m still trying to get the right filters with it, because BS-i is not a good station. I’m getting close, thankfully.
Point 4: Expect more delays in ZKC (No csubs), and a delay in Penguin (No csubs, and the ONLY J->E TLer I know willing to do it is AFK until Monday). All other projects should be looking to be on schedule.

was this episode rushed? the translation was noticeably shoddy in some places, it seemed… although I’m only 10 minutes in, so maybe those were the only places with errors…

Since I can’t decide, I download both BW and Color 😀 Chances are I will watch BW though. It seems more clean and on an LCD DVI monitor, should look nice..
Simple way to save bandwidth: Open ffdshow video decoder. Check Picture
Properties. Pull the Saturation bar all the way down. Click Apply. Congratulations you have a “Black and White” video and only had to download one copy.
We don’t need to save bandwidth.

Yes there is! A good program which I also use. AllToAVI By Kenesis Kiith. It can convert almost any file to .avi with lots of different re-encoding options like : Resolution, subs, FPS, Quantizer and many others!

Why doesn’t the Color version have subtitles?
I have downloaded this twice now (once at tokyo toshokan and once here) and both times the subtitles failed to appear. It can’t be on my side since I played some other downloads including your releases of Yozakura Quartet episodes 1 – 4 and they all work fine. Can someone please tell me if the subtitles work on their episode 5 “Color is BORING” version?
hahaha i see many people have problems with subs 😀 well i had it too , but after re-encoding it with AllToAvi to .avi the subs appeared 🙂
I had problems with the subtitles too. I use Media Player Classic. I went under the options on it, then to playback, and finally to the output. I had to change the Directshow Video from default mode to the VMR9(renderless) or the VMR7(renderless) and then played the video and I had subtitles. I thought I would let the people who are having problems that I had know what I did to fix it. If they are running Media Player Classic.

Awesome work, still waiting for the .avi though :S I dont really get why you take so long time between the .mkv and the .avi, isnt it just encoding again or something?? Dont really know that stuff… Anyway great work and Im still eagerly waiting for the .avi!! ;););)
