So here ends our little OVA series from the past year. It was kind of fun to work on in the end. Maybe we’ll do S3 when it comes around? I’d like to, as then I can continually post about Kazumi’s superiority, and make Kusion post any Kazumi screenshot in the show for even episodes. ^^

Everything so far (100% of stuff i DLed here) has played fine without any problems for me. Chihiro is one of mah fav sub groups.
i heard that there’s a 50/50 chance on season 3 whether or not it’ll come out. can’t say im certain or anything. just the last i heard

Yeah, it’s funny as hell under Windows and not so under other platform.
We talk about compatability – it’s really to do things that it can be good under any configuration (as I said before – EP1 and EP2 of Shana S). There is nothing impossible.
So there is only one thing that remains: quality of what you’re doing.
Here we can see a perfect example when goal is everything except quality.
Except episode 4 played fine here in my Ubuntu 10.04 VM using both the mplayer and mplayer-uau (built using the script I wrote which is linked in the playback help page we have)

Try seek forward/backward in EP3. I have tons of these:
> number of reference frames exceeds max (probably corrupt input), discarding one
> mmco: unref short failure
At least I’m must thank you that you confirm that EP4 is totally messed up.

As I said before it doesn’t matter what system you use – it “must” (in case of nobody cares it “should”) work anywhere. Especially when there is a way to do it.

For me it’s included in term “quality”. I’m founder of some kind of community too (not relared to anime and not so big as yours) and for me quality is: 0 comments, 0 complains, 0 feedbacks about technical problems. Quality it’s not only correct translation from one language to another. This term are used in a more widely sense (at least for me).

This bug can be fixed if you use older version of mkvtoolnix (at least 3.1.0 don’t have this “feature”).
It seems to be appeared when streams are compressed inside mkv file. But:
1) Author of mkvtoolnix is totally dick and don’t want to turn off this completly useless “feature”.
2) People who muxing mkv files don’t care about anything and only upgrade to newer version.
3) MPlayer developers seems to be don’t care about it too.
4) I don’t have skills to patch it by myself (I know it sucks to be me).
5) And as sum of all this – someone enjoying his butthurt.
I know I can try to do something with this files, but you can’t after that:
1) Seed it anymore. And I don’t really want two copy of files on my HDD.
2) Call it “vanilla” release. And get tons of questions like “wtf?! where did you get this file since [insert group name] don’t release any v2???”
3) Talk about quality (yes). You care about what you did or it’s just was “it works for me and it sucks to be you”?
And please don’t talk about “this is free fansub, what you’re expected?” – there is many fansub groups which care about that side of quality too. Why you should be worse than they?

@ butthurt although I have no issues with any of chihiro’s releases, I must agree with you. That was well said imo. I’m not aware of the technical issues or anything, but perfection is always nice to have.
However, to be comatable with everything.. not so sure about that. chihiro works fine for me in mpc 64 bit, or kmplayer and they have on their site to (for example) use cccp to garentee things will work right. IMO, if you don’t want to use cccp, then don’t ever come to this site again.
Its up to them to use what they want and I’m going to give you that “its a free fan sub garbage” cause they do it however they like and is not told how they should do it. I myself never liked cccp as it never helped out my pentium 4 computer in the past compared to k-lite and coreavc. However, not having cccp seems to be fine for their releases as well.
so I’ll throw out one of my complaints, I would like any coreavc issues to be fixed. Video gets screwed up when I fastforward/rewind most of your videos but works fine 5 seconds later. Sure I can just remove coreavc and just use mpcs internal codacs, but its like I wasted $9 doing so.
I’ll also throw in that its said that most fan subs look better then most professionally subbed dvds…..
And butthurt, I cannot play this on my iphone because it isn’t encoded in baseline profile at a bitrate larger than 1.5 MBit. OMG CHIHIRO’S QUALITY SUCKS I HAET YOU CHIHIRO!!!

Played back gorgeously on my PC just like the last 3 releases of this OVA, many thanks Chihiro its just sad its at an end now, looking forward to season 3 and if you guys are doing it i’ll definately follow you guys with your releases 🙂

Ok, I’m “stop whining”, since I see there is no people in your group who can understand.
The recent MKVToolnix (4.4.0) added an Option in the mmg tab to “Disable header removal compression by default,” which sets compression to None by default.
Also, you could remux it with compression set to None on Audio and Video, regardless. I’ve read other posts about MPlayer that that fixes playback issues.
