Recruitment

Hiya. We need editors and QCers. Another TL or two would be nice too. If you can fit any of these, please go to #Chihiro-recruits and do the test in the topic. If you want to apply as a TL, please PM Kristen directly.

Please do not waste my time and apply as an editor/QC yet only change 2-3 words in the entire script. The script used as a test requires about 70% changed.

Note:
>Editors are responsible for fixing all the grammar in a script, as well as rewording awkward lines to make them sound more natural in English.
>QCers (Quality Checkers) run through the script a second time checking for anything the editor might have missed. In addition, QCers also check for other types of errors such as timing mistakes.
>Translators do just what the name implies. PLEASE, fluent Japanese to English translators ONLY.

Kuzu edit: You mean I’ve been turning programming languages into assembly?! Wow, I never knew I had such a talent!

Hey, there’s no link to PM Kristen. Is this an editor that edits/checks grammar of subs? I’d be willing to help if it’s part-time freelance! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Kristen

    Grammar/Naturalist.

  • Editor = Grammar nazi
All groups should change the name of that position to Grammar nazi

  • andymack

I prefer the term Naturist :p

    Maybe in the future…or not

I have faith in my knowledge of the English language, so I’d be willing to help QC…maybe edit. However, my question to you all is how much time does each job take up? I need to focus on my classes first and foremost but if one of them doesn’t require every waking minute of my attention, I’d be totally down. ๐Ÿ˜€

As an editor, expect to devote around 2 hours to each episode. QCing typically takes less time, from 30 minutes to about an hour, depending on how many errors remain in the script.

I’ll apply for the editor position.

Also, any extra information would be nice. As in what shows we’d edit, or how fast you expect things to be edited would be nice. Just so anyone else who applies gets an idea of what they’re getting themselves into.

The shows you work on will be determined by a combination of need and desire. (For example, if there’s a show you really want to do that is lacking an editor, you could request to be placed on that show. Otherwise, you would be put on whatever show happens to need an editor.) As for time, on a show that is currently airing, we’d prefer it if you could have your job done within a day after it reaches you. For blurays, DVDs, and OVAs, the time constraints are typically more lenient.

So we do the test, then how we get it to you?

  • blah

In my opinion, you should recycle your highschool english test to let these potential editors take them.

Anybody that needs to turn in their tests needs to upload it to megaupload, or a similar site, and give the link to Kristen in the recruits channel.

I’m actually in my 4th year of my English degree, so I should be more than qualified for editing duties. =D

Also I’ve been considering getting some sort of Copy Editor job after graduation so this would be great practice. lol…Guess I’ll apply pretty soon.
