Their audio can’t be more crisp, because it’s the SAME audio. Although I will admit it’s not as good as it could be. Our cap failed, so we had to use a CR raw. We will be releasing a version 2 with a better encode if we manage to find a transport stream.
hey all you chihiro fans (and crunchyroll fans?/haters?). i dont know if these audio problems are the EXACT same as mine, but i tested this next method on this and another HorribleSubs show to fix the audio.
so assuming youre using ffdshow audio to decode the aac in the file, the problem is somehow the audio and the video arent exactly synced (i dont know all the details as its 2:37 where i am as im posting this). i found that if you go into the ffdshow audio codec settings, turn on resampling, resample to 48000Hz with “libavcodec highest quality”, and set it to resample anything lower than 48000, this made the audio sound fine for me. if you have your stati
^^ if you have your statistics open in MPC youll notice that without the resampling on, the framerate is, at least for me ~22.50, but with the resampling on i get a lovely 23.97

V2 still has artifacts (pixels) when you skip to some parts and at times when I let it play they showed up. Tested about 5 other videos including some from your season 1 collection and did not have this issue. Any idea what that is about?
I think this is related to the Open-GOP feature in x264. It’s a fairly new feature so it wasn’t in season 1, and also for that reason it isn’t supported by some codecs. I suggest updating to the newest version of CCCP. (I see that Kristen has already mentioned Open-GOP, but still, try updating your codecs. It should hopefully help. 99% of problems like this can be solved by making sure you have the latest codecs.)
Small point it only seems to happen with coreavc which is weird since it normally works fine with everything. Directshow filters seem to work fine though.

That should not matter. Many other encoders use that and their stuff plays fine. Hell I tested some 1080p just to be sure.
No, OpenGOP is exceedingly rare in fansubs for the exact reason that you mentioned. It’s great for compression, but scanning will sometimes cause artifacts if you’re not in the right GOP.

Making a patch would be impossible, since this v2 is using .ts from the TV rip, while v1 was a crappy CrunchyRoll rip.

Two reasons a patch is not possible:
1: It is a new encode from a different source.
2: They hardsub the karaoke which makes it not possible to v2 patch.

I just used the 720p ddl link and had to extract the subs to get them to play… Is that how its supposed to be?
Uh… No. Make sure you’re not using a terrible player like Windows Media Player or VLC. Try Media Player Classic. That is our suggested player, and is included with CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack), our suggested codec pack.
I do use the latest cccp with media player classic and all your other stuff works… this was strange for me as well.
Nevermind, my brother installed divx player yesterday for something… Reset settings and all is good.
