This is why I’m reluctant to give financial support. You still have a bunch of unfinished series and instead of finishing those, you keep picking up new ones. I understand that you want to have currently running series to stay relevant, but what’s the point if it can’t be expected to be followed through.
Did you miss The_Pretenders post in Goblin Slayer 01? Honestly, I’d like to see Chihiro doing colaborations with other groups for quicker releases.
A lot of staff only do airing series, and on top of that, if you keep focusing on projects that are already stalling, you’re gonna die out. Fansubbing is volunteer work, and it’s very easy to burn out or become disinterested. There’s no way to be reliable because of this. You just have to be patient, or support fansubbing as much as you can to help. Groups with a leader and staff that have more time and energy than they know what to do with…that pretty much doesn’t happen. Although there are some individuals like that, but they either burn out or just put out low quality work.
They have Blu Ray releases essentially dropped at the last 1 or 2 vilumes which are fully subbed for the TV version. In these cases they shuld just adjust the timings which would be about 30 minutes work for an episode for one guy including watching the full episode.
Fansubbers shouldn’t focus on airing shows at these points. Those who watch them while they are airing mostly impatient enough to go for Crunchyroll subs. CR subs are garbage tier, but they are fast and they won’t abandon a show half way. But when you don’t get better even for older shows because the subbers want to compete with CR and simulsub the hype shows and die because of that, now that’s disappointing.
Is not just shifting, it involves encoding, as well as adapting the TS for 720p and fixing it for 1080p. Fansubbing ain’t a job, but hobby. You can’t force anyone to do something right away, but you can just make them ragequit. And people want to do ongoing shows. I do agree that there are backlogs and etc. that needs to be released, but that would mean some of the staff might leave us[Chihiro] because they are not interested in doing backlogs. Imagine what is like to watch certain title at least one time, do your part and for the BDs do it once again. Some people just can’t bear it.
Someone disappointed, it is the lowest of the low tactic to bring up muh money and muh donation in an attempt to guilt/bribe/buy what is essentially someone’s hobby that you are benefiting from. This is not a store and you are not paying for anyone’s salary or livelihood. This is a community of fans for fans. If you got free money and want to support then donate; if you feel your donation entitles you to get releases you sure as heck have better paid them a month’s wages; from where I am that’s at least 8k USD per person or you’re living in a cardboard box under a bridge. Or just keep your cash to buy a pacifier or something.
I donate because I don’t want financial trouble to be one of the reasons that people abandon projects or fansubbing in general. I do hope that projects get finished though, I always hate having to switch to CR/Horrible for the last two climactic episodes.

I really only care about a Citrus bluray batch, when that gets released at some point, someday. 😛 That’s mostly all I’m waiting for.
