You know, I personally hate raw tomatoes. My parents had me try one once a year growing up, thinking I’d one day like it… but it never happened. Even into my 20s I would try it, and it was always the same thing. Guess some tastes never change.

It may be that you’re eating the wrong tomatoes. Go to good organic market (better yet, a roadside stand or farmer’s market), and get a 1/4 lb. of the smallest red tomatoes they have. !- they’re fresh. 2- they’re probably a bit sweet. 3- you’re supporting a local farmer, which is always good.

If it turns out you still don’t like ’em, your local food bank will.

Yeah, I hate raw tomatoes as well, even though I like basically anything that is made out of tomatoes, such as ketchup, tomato sauce, tomato soup etc. *shrug* Interestingly, I did sort of the same thing you did, only in my case it was coffee, and I tried it every so often for just one year, rather than once a year. Didn’t work. I’m 37 now, and still hate coffee lol.

My parents love tomatoes, and buy all kinds of different organic ones, both big and small. I’ve tried all of them, and I just don’t like them. It may be a texture thing rather than strictly a taste thing, I dunno. By the way, the “hikikimori” in your name should be written “hikikomori”. ๐Ÿ˜›

I grew 17,915 cherry tomatoes last year from 17 plants; one each of 17 different varieties. Including two that no one else in the world has – one is a color mutation (pink instead of cream-colored), and the other is a volunteer unknown cross from several years ago. (I have an educated guess on what two varieties crossed, but can’t be certain.) There is a LOT of variation in taste and texture even among cherry tomatoes, let alone color, patterns, and size (down to as small as BBs, although I generally don’t go smaller than pea-size because they take too long to pick).

My one niece is like Kristen – can’t stand them. But her 3- and 5-year-old daughters love them so much they would eat tomatoes until they got sick if they were allowed. Guess that’s not a genetic trait. ๐Ÿ˜‰
